Can anyone help me with some research I am doing into the mainacraft company that was connected briefly with the Campbell's. I have some old shares my grandfather bought which were connected to an experimental continuous combustion engine in straight eight form. This was back in the 1930's and I would like to know what happened to the company, and Joseph Maina.

Just happened to come across this forum while "googling" info on my father Joseph Maina. I vaguely remember Malcolm Campbell (two very fierce Alsations on chains guarding the path to the doorway of his house - sometime in the nineteen thirties) and drawings of Bluebird in my father's study. I guess that was likey the 1927 car referred to on the Racing Campbell's website. I also remember he designed an advanced drafting board activated by pneumatic pressure. He died at age 76 in the 50's/60's of pneumonia. I cannot really answer your question however, since I have not heard of "Mainacraft".
If you have found any interesting info since your post of July 2006 perhaps you might share it with me.
Mike Maina

Hello, I had given up hope of ever hearing from anyone through this site. I think the experimental engine was built as a joint venture as I have shares from mainacraft and the williams rotary engine company. Apparently someone who was conected with this experimental engine made off with the blueprints and plans, I think to England. There was a fundraising exercise to take this person to court, but I have no information past the fundraising exercise. It is interesting that you have not heard of Mainacraft company. I would dearly love to find more information about the engine as I believe it was shown in New Zealand at the time. I do have some paperwork with descriptions of the engine but no photos. Apparently the williams rotary engine company had an office in Auckland New Zealand, but getting company records is a costly exercise which I cannot afford. If you are able to find out anything about your fathers work with experimental engines I would love to hear from you.
